Hi everyone

(Source: validx2, via ethiopienne)

Let’s take a moment to thank Rolling Stone for humanizing a white (looking) person, who (if he actually did it), definitely has a psychosis of some kind.
It’s always, “he went crazy!” “He fell into radical Islam!”
But when a PoC commits a crime, the media narrative is always dismissive, rage inducing, and racist.
Fuck off.
Let’s also take a moment to think about why terrorism is being glamorized, why the fuck this is on Rolling Stone, and why he looks like a rockstar?
I think they explain this better.
Also, stop blaming religions for the psychotic actions of men.

There should be a White History Month in America. That way we can teach all about the things White Americans have done in history, like:
Cherokee Trail of Tears
Japanese American internment
Philippine-American War
Jim Crow
The genocide of Native Americans
Transatlantic slave trade
The Middle Passage
The history of White American racism
Black Codes
Slave patrols
Ku Klux Klan
The War on Drugs
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
How white racism grew out of slavery and genocide
How whites still benefit from slavery and genocide
White anti-racism
The Southern strategy
The rape of black slave women
CORE
Madison Grant
The Indian Wars
Human zoos
How the Jews became white
White flight
Redlining
Proposition 14
Homestead Act
Tulsa Riots
Rosewood massacre
Tuskegee Experiment
Lynching
Hollywood stereotypes
Indian Appropriations Acts
Immigration Act of 1924
Sundown towns
Chinese Exclusion Act
Emmett Till
Vincent Chin
Islamophobia
Indian boarding schools
King Philip’s War
Bacon’s Rebellion
American slavery compared to Arab, Roman and Latin American slavery
History of the gun
History of the police
History of prisons
History of white suburbia
Lincoln’s racism and anti-racism
George Wallace
Fox News
Cointelpro
Real estate steering
School tracking
Mass incarceration of black men
Boston school busing riots
And so on. No fear of running out of topics: there is more than one a day! I am sure my commenters can come up with tons more, probably some big ones that are not coming to mind at the moment (I did not list slavery, the abolitionist movement, the civil war, Reconstruction or Lincoln since they are, in fact, covered in history class, however poorly).

Via amazing-how-you-love, Bay Area news station KTVU couldn’t resist the opportunity to broadcast racist Asian name jokes after last week’s violent crash landing of Asiana Flight 214 at the San Francisco International Airport, resulting in the deaths of two young Chinese women.
The news anchor later went on air with the worst apology ever, not directly addressing the racist nature of what had been broadcast but simply stating that the names were inaccurate and claiming (with zero credibility) that the names had been provided by the National Transportation Safety Board. They also posted an online “apology” sticking to the same story, blaming the NTSB.
Good one, KTVU. Let’s see who gets the last laugh on this one.

"Women of today are still being called upon to stretch across the gap of male ignorance and to educate men as to our existence and our needs. This is an old and primary tool of all oppressors to keep the oppressed occupied with the master’s concerns. Now we hear that it is the task of women of Color to educate white women — in the face of tremendous resistance — as to our existence, our differences, our relative roles in our joint survival. This is a diversion of energies and a tragic repetition of racist patriarchal thought."

The fact that oppressed people can’t make a single angry statement about their oppressors without being asked to clarify they didn’t mean literally everyone in that group just in case they hurt someone’s feelings blows my fucking mind.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings by pointing out that you’re part of a group that benefits from the dehumanisation of others.

I guess I was just too busy being actively dehumanised to care.
